New Hartford NY – Today Claudia Tenney for Congress released the following statement in response to a recent poll conducted by by Mercury Public Affairs on behalf of The Business Council of New York State showing New York’s overtaxed families reject Albany’s single-payer healthcare plan that would increase taxes by as much as $90 billion.
“While New Yorkers understand how disastrous socialist healthcare would be, Albany politicians like Anthony Brindisi just don’t get it. Brindisi voted three times for Cuomo’s socialist, single-payer plan that would reportedly raise taxes on New York’s already overtaxed families as much as $90 billion,” said Raychel Renna, Campaign Manager for Claudia Tenney for Congress. “Whether it’s voting for Cuomo’s bloated budgets, taxpayer funded benefits for illegal immigrants, or government-run health care out of Albany, Brindisi’s liberal record is dangerously out of touch with Upstate New York families.”
In 2015 and 2016, Brindisi Voted For A05062, which would have created a universal single payer health care plan in New York. Then Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney voted against the bill in 2015. In 2017, Anthony Brindisi voted again for government-run health care out of Albany.
According to The Wall Street Journal, New York’s single payer healthcare bill would require roughly $90 Billion in new tax revenue and the bill would be partly funded through a progressive increase in state payroll taxes.
