NEW HARTFORD – Today, Claudia Tenney released a new ad highlighting that Anthony Brindisi stands with Nancy Pelosi on sanctuary cities and giving illegal immigrants taxpayer-funded benefits. Brindisi’s position stands in stark contrast to Tenney who is working with President Trump to ban sanctuary cities, secure the border and put Americans first by eliminating taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants.
“Albany politician Anthony Brindisi is an ally of the open borders lobby, voting to give taxpayer-funded benefits including in-state tuition and free healthcare to illegal immigrants. Brindisi will stand with Nancy Pelosi and the radical left in their push for sanctuary cities and to abolish ICE,” said Claudia Tenney Campaign manager Raychel Renna. “While Brindisi and Pelosi are helping illegal immigrants get a leg up, Claudia Tenney is working with President Trump to ban sanctuary cities, secure the border, and put Americans first by ending taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants.”
As of 2018, Brindisi has received at least $14,000 from Nancy Pelosi.(Anthony Brindisi, 2017 Year End Report, Federal Election Commission, Filed 1/31/18; Anthony Brindisi, 2017 Year End Report, Federal Election Commission, Filed 1/31/18)
Nancy Pelosi has called for a fundamental overhaul of the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “The question of whether to abolish ICE, the government agency at the forefront of enforcing the Trump administration border policy … Party leadership has struck a similar note, with House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., via a spokesman, calling for “an immediate and fundamental overhaul” of the agency.” (NBC News, 07/09/18)
July 22, 2018, Senator Gillibrand who has endorsed Albany liberal Anthony Brindisi said if Democrats regain control of Congress they should get rid of ICE. “‘So when we flip the House and flip the Senate, I think the first thing we should do is deal with the children who have been separated from their families at the border. I think we should get rid of ICE,’ Sen. Gillibrand said at New York City’s OZY Fest 2018.” (Town Hall, 07/23/18)
In 2017, Brindisi voted for the New York Assembly considered A04738, which would create a universal single payer healthcare plan in New York. “PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL: This bill would create a universal single payer health plan -New York Health – to provide comprehensive health coverage for all New Yorkers.” (A04738,New York State Assembly, Accessed 6/29/17)
New York State universal health care bill would give illegal immigrants taxpayer funded healthcare. “Proposed legislation to create a universal single-payer plan to provide health coverage to every New York State resident likely will not become law anytime soon in Albany—and the issue puts the South Fork’s two state legislators in a rare position, on opposite sides of an issue. The State Assembly approved the measure in mid-May. It calls for publicly funded universal health care for all state residents, regardless of wealth, income, age, immigration status or preexisting condition.” (The Southampton Press, 06/12/17)
