New Hartford — Today Claudia Tenney, Republican nominee for Congress in the 22nd District of New York, announced that she has reached the Top Tier of the Young Guns program. To reach this level of Young Guns, a candidate must establish a clear path to victory by demonstrating a formidable campaign structure and ability to achieve goals and benchmarks.
NRCC Chairman Greg Walden stated, “Their dedication and commitment to run strong successful campaigns is exactly the type of leadership our country needs as we build a more confident America. I am excited to watch them continue to work hard for their districts and I look forward to working with them in 2017 and beyond.”
Tenney echoed this sentiment, “We look forward to success in this race and the opportunity to represent Upstate New York, bring back jobs, rebuild our military, and eliminate burdensome regulations; it’s exciting to be recognized for the hard work our campaign has been doing to protect the 22nd Congressional district of New York.”
The Young Guns Program was originally founded in the 2007-2008 election cycle. The program supports and mentors challenger and open-seat candidates in races across the country. Young Guns requires its candidates to work towards specific goals and meet benchmarks throughout the year to ensure their continued participation in the program. In the 2014 election cycle, the program helped to elect 45 new Republican Members to the 114th Congress.
